Every Author Has a Voice Worth Sharing
Most authors are told that narrating their own audiobook is too technical, too time-consuming, or too risky. But your voice matters — and your readers want to hear you.
At Voice Your Book, we help authors transform uncertainty into confidence — giving you the tools, coaching, and production support you need to record a professional-quality audiobook from your own home.
Whether you narrate yourself or have us handle production for you, our goal is the same: to make audiobook creation simple, empowering, and rewarding.

Meet Caroline Doughty
Narrator • Voice Coach • Audiobook Mentor for Indie Authors
I believe storytelling through voice is one of the most powerful ways to connect with your audience — and that any author can learn to do it beautifully.
My journey began as a volunteer with Learning Ally, recording books for readers who are blind or dyslexic. That experience showed me how transformative voice can be — and inspired me to help other authors experience that same connection.
To master my craft, I studied with:
Roger Love (voice performance)
Now, I combine all of that experience to help authors sound confident, natural, and professional — even if they’ve never used a microphone before.
Hear the Difference — Studio & Demos
I’ve recorded dozens of projects — including several of Catherine Alliott’s audiobooks — in my former WhisperRoom home studio, using the Sennheiser MKH 416 microphone trusted by professional narrators worldwide.
Today, my workflow is simpler and more mobile, but just as professional. I record with the Sennheiser 416 when working in my current home setup, or with the Samson Q2U USB/XLR mic when traveling — the same affordable microphone I recommend to authors starting their own audiobook journey.
Both setups deliver excellent quality and demonstrate that great sound doesn’t depend on having a complex studio — it’s about knowing how to use your tools with confidence.

Why We Do This — Our ‘Why’
We believe the process of creating an audiobook should be accessible, personal, and inspiring.
We’ve guided dozens of authors — including Tahmina Watson and Dory Jones Yang — from their first mic test to final publication.
That moment when an author hears their own story, spoken in their own voice, is unforgettable. That’s what drives us to keep teaching, editing, and producing.
